History
Zagers Pool & Spa began in a family owned hardware store in Jamestown. In 1959, the Zagers purchased a doughboy pool for their own family, and eventually purchased a few more pools to sell in the hardware store. Some of the first Doughboy aboveground pools sold were installed on site by the Zagers family.
The Zagers Hardware store in Jamestown closed in the early 1970s, and Zagers Pool later opened in the family garage. A few years later a warehouse was built on land adjacent to the garage, and in 1981 showroom space was added to the warehouse. This became a stand-alone store in the heart of Jamestown.
Bill Zagers sold the business to Ron and Nancy Zagers in 1982, though Bill remained active in the store's operation.
In 1990, Zagers Pool opened a second store in Holland to better serve the lakeshore area. A year later, Zagers began selling spas, and soon added the word "spa" to the company name.
In 2005, veteran store managers Ryan Miedema and Todd Visser became the owners of Zagers Pool & Spa. Not long after, they opened a third store in Grand Rapids.
Products
Since the addition of spas in the early '90s, many new product lines have been added to the company's stores, including Vita Spas and Reflections Hot Tubs, pool and spa parts and equipment, grills, toys, covers, chemicals, tanning beds and inground pools.
