PoolCo (dba Tri-State Pool & Spa, LLC) is a family owned and operated swimming pool, hot tub and backyard accessories retail and service company specializing in aboveground installations and based in Carbondale, Ill.

History
John and JoAnn Carvell started PoolCo in 1979. Their son, Mark Carvell, and his wife Mary Carvell purchased the company when John retired in 1993. Their children, John and Maria Carvell, have worked with their parents for a number of years, making three generations of Carvells.
A significant proportion of the PoolCo staff are students from Southern Illinois University and John A. Logan College.
Products and Services
PoolCo supplies aboveground pools by Esther Williams, Premier Pools and Swim n' Play; Hot Spring brands of hot tubs; Big Green Egg outdoor grills; BioGuard pool and spa care water treatment products, chemicals by SoftSwim; the Mineral Springs program; and a variety of parts and accessories including skimmer baskets, cartridge filters, ACE salt water sanitizing systems and more.
PoolCo offers free computerized water testing and analysis. In addition, new Poolco employees receive a minimum of 30 days' in-house classroom training supervised by Sonnia Loucks. Spa service technicians attend rigorous off-site training and must take 21 different tests to become qualified. James Halstead, chief spa service technician
The Carvells and their professionally trained staff host many free schools and seminars. They offer expert advice on how to open pools in the spring and how to close pools in the fall. Hot tub owners learn the keys to regular, routine maintenance.
