Pool Industry Career
Caniglia accepted the executive director position at NESPA in January 2004. Since that date he has devoted his time to managing the trade association, which provides benefits and services to over 825 member companies.
In part, his duties entail managing and coordinating government relations initiatives. Caniglia monitors the legislative calendars of all four states covered by NESPA on a weekly basis, alerts its Government Affairs Committee to impending legislation and regulations that will impact the industry if enacted, helps mobilize grass roots campaigns in response to impending or needed legislation and regulations and hires/supervises lobbyists utilized by NESPA.
Professional Affiliations
Caniglia is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE), formed from the merger of the Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives, where he served as a past president and former member of the Board of Directors, and the New Jersey Society of Association Executives.
He was also a member of the Education and Programming Committee, the Marketing Taskforce and the NJSAE/DVSAE Annual Conference Committee and the recent Task Force to form the merger of the newly named MASAE.
Caniglia is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
Among his many community and professional activities, he is a current member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and a past member of the Burlington County and Camden County Bar Associations.
He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cherry Hill Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Mount Laurel Task Force for Improving Education and the WYBE World Heritage Council.
History
Caniglia graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in history and education and later attended Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he graduated with honors.
Caniglia earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2002 from ASAE.
He has lived in Mount Laurel, NJ, for 31 years with his wife Barbara and their sons Todd and Craig, now grown.
